Our Health Program

Our Health Program

Our Health Program:

We follow a strict health program for our dogs that includes frequent dewoming, vaccination schedules, and a prevention program for coccidiosis and giardhia.

6 week Well Puppy Check:

We have a well puppy check done by our vet at 6 weeks age before our puppy picks weekend. We like to give as much details as possible on each of our amazing puppies. Your puppy is guaranteed to be in good health at the time of pick up. Our puppies go home with first shots & wormed by us, with complete physical examination by our vet.

Our puppies are first dewormed at 2 weeks of age, and are re-treated every two weeks. By the time they leave us, they will usually have been dewormed three to four times, and have been exposed to different types of dewormers Pyrantel Pamoate (Nemex) hookworms and roundworms,
Safe-Guard Tapeworms (Taenia pisiformis), Roundworms (Toxocara canis, Toxascaris leonina), Hookworms (Ancylostoma caninum, Uncinaria stenocephala), Whipworms (Trichuris vulpis) along with a new one we have added called Toltrazuril (for prevention of coccidiosis) to ensure broad-spectrum control of normal puppy parasites. Preventative care for coccidiosis, which is a very common intestinal infection in puppies in the United States. Coccidiosis causes diarrhea, and often occurs after a period of stress (weaning, leaving littermates for a new home, etc.). Another common protozoa affecting puppies is giardhia. We preventively treat puppies for this as well because of the commonality of these ailments we have expanded our worming program.

Vaccinations
We vaccinate agains Canine Distemper, Parvovirus, canine Adenovirus Type 2 (Respiratory Disease), Parainfluenza, and Bordetella bronchiseptica).

At 3 weeks of age, our puppies are given their first puppy vaccination. This is early. We spilt up the typical 6-way vaccine into 2 separate vaccines, Nobivac® Puppy-DPv (Progard Puppy-DPv) and Nobivac® Intra-Trac®3 and administer 2 rounds of each vaccine. We do this so the puppies can finish their vaccinations well before they go home. We have had bad experience with the typical process of administering a 3-way vaccine at the vet’s office at 8 weeks and then sending the puppy home. Too many puppies get parov.

Nobivac trac 3

Vaccination schedule will be as follows.

3 weeks old and 6 weeks old- Nobivac® Intra-Trac®3 ADT prevents canine Adenovirus Type 2 (Respiratory Disease), Parainfluenza, and Bordetella bronchiseptica

4 weeks and 7 weeks Nobivac® Puppy-DPv (Progard Puppy-DPv) prevents Canine Distemper and Parvovirus

We give vaccinations here at home. We have tons of experience with vaccinating and will have all shot stickers in your health record booklet. If you are local please take advantage of our immunization program, bring your puppy out to our home and we will give shots to finish puppies 14 weeks vaccinations Parvo and distemper shots. Puppies will be seen by a certified veterinarian at 3-5 days old for tails docked and dew claw removal and at 6 weeks for a full physical examination.
